NovaThreads® are hypodermic needles that contain a PDO (polydioxanone) absorbable suture, used in the NovaLift procedure. PDO stimulates the collagen and it provides support to the skin. These sutures, used to perform surgeries such as open heart surgery, are one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body.

While NovaLift and PDO thread are not new, Dr. Manrique is the first physician to use PDO NovaThreads® in the Washington, DC area. The technique was developed by Korean physicians and has since become popular in Europe.
NovaThreads® lift soft tissues in the face and neck in a simple in-office, noninvasive procedure. During your treatment, the threads are inserted in your skin with a needle, then pulled out. The threads then stay under your skin, where they stimulate your skin to create collagen. Your skin fully absorbs the threads within 4-6 months, leaving no scar tissue.
Most areas of your face, neck, and even abdomen can be treated with NovaThreads. In some cases, results appear immediately.
You may experience mild discomfort during your NovaThreads® treatment. Thanks to Dr. Manrique’s gentle technique, many patients report feeling less discomfort than they have during dermal filler injections.
Dr. Manrique customizes each NovaThreads® treatment based on your goals, health history, age, and desired treatment areas. After a thorough exam and consultation, she’ll determine the best course of treatment.

Results of NovaThreads® treatment typically last 9-15 months, depending on the number of threads used and the area treated. While you’ll likely notice results sooner, maximum results usually appear within 4 months.

Bruising and swelling are the most common possible side effects of NovaThreads® treatment. Some amount of tissue irregularity may be seen with the NovaLift technique, which usually resolves on its own within 7-10 days.
